Posted 26/05/2010 Qualified Arboriculturist We are seeking to appoint a qualified arboriculturist to work in our team, based in Colchester, but with travel UK wide. The role will principally involve issues associated with vegetation-related clay shrinkage subsidence, however it will also encompass all aspects of arboriculture. Ideally qualified in an arboricultural related degree (or equivalent), you will have excellent plant, tree and species profiling skills, and have extensive experience undertaking arboricultural surveys and report writing including: • tree-related subsidence surveys; • tree hazard surveys; and • visual tree assessment (VTA); • preliminary reporting; • detailed presentation of technical information; • arboricultural impact assessments (AIA). You will also be conversant with primary legislation and guidance regarding trees, ideally with a working knowledge of the issues relating to trees and buildings. Any involvement in ecological surveying would also be an advantage. You will be very commercially minded, with strong communication and client liaison skills and be able to demonstrate the ability to work towards defined targets and deadlines. You will also want to broaden your specialism to develop yourself in multiple disciplines. Good organisation and prioritisation skills are essential, as is a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and Outlook. OCA UK Ltd currently provides contracts management services to a wide client base including all of the major UK Insurers, Loss Adjusters, Building Engineers, Registered Social Landlords (Housing Associations), Schools, Colleges & Universities, Airports and Property Developers. In our last ‘surge’ year in 2003, we had over 10,000 subsidence claims, half of which transferred to mitigation and tree works contracts. 2010 is looking to be a hot summer and we are monitoring the weather closely.
